Installing energy saving cooling equipment, Oilfield @ DIP- IAQ improvement measures, reducing fatigue, tiredness and improving performance for their Staff.
Background
- Extreme Heat Stress
- Heat-related Illnesses: Workers are at risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke, which can be life-threatening if not managed properly.
- Increased Fatigue: Working under extreme temperatures leads to quicker fatigue, decreasing productivity and increasing the likelihood of accidents due to tiredness.
- High Humidity and Poor Air Circulation
- Sweat-Related Discomfort: High humidity makes it harder for the body to cool down through sweating, increasing discomfort and the risk of skin irritations.
- Poor Air Quality: Factories often have limited air circulation, trapping hot and humid air inside, which adds to discomfort and affects breathing, especially for workers with respiratory issues.
- Safety Hazards and Equipment Handling
- Hot Surfaces and Machinery: Machinery and equipment can become extremely hot, posing risks of burns and making it difficult for workers to handle them safely.
- Productivity Decline and Health Impacts
- Reduced Productivity: Working in extreme heat affects focus, alertness, and energy levels, often reducing overall productivity.
- Long-term Health Issues: Chronic exposure to high heat without adequate protection can lead to long-term health problems, including kidney issues from frequent dehydration.
Solution
- Breezair Coolers
- How It Works: Breezair evaporative coolers, use water to cool the air. They draw in hot air, pass it through water-soaked pads, and blow out cooler air, lowering the indoor temperature effectively.
- Advantages: They are energy-efficient compared to air conditioners and add humidity to dry environments, providing a cooling effect. They can be used as spot cooling in specific areas.
- High-Volume Low-Speed (HVLS) Fans
- How It Works: HVLS fans are large ceiling fans that rotate at low speeds to circulate a massive volume of air across wide areas. This creates a gentle breeze that helps evaporate sweat, cooling workers through air circulation.
- Advantages: HVLS fans are highly energy-efficient and can reduce perceived temperatures by up to 8-10°C, improving air quality while requiring minimal energy compared to other cooling systems. They are especially effective in large open spaces with high ceilings.
- Roof Coating
- How It Works: Roof coatings are reflective or insulating materials applied to factory roofs to reduce heat absorption. These coatings can reflect sunlight and prevent heat from penetrating the building, keeping indoor temperatures lower.
- Advantages: Roof coatings can significantly reduce the need for active cooling, cutting energy costs and improving indoor temperatures naturally. They also enhance roof durability, which is beneficial for long-term cost savings and sustainability.
Combined Benefits
Installation
- Oilfield Factory : 4 x Breezair units
- Oilfield Factory : 1 x HVLS FAN
- Oilfield Factory : Roof Coating
Breezair units installed in the roof. Breezair units are all down discharge and self-supporting, with no need of extra support.
Result
Using a combination of these solutions can maximize cooling effectiveness: air coolers for localized cooling, HVLS fans for air circulation, and roof coatings to prevent excessive heat buildup. Together, they can create a cooler, more comfortable environment that supports productivity and worker health during extreme summer conditions.
